NEWS: Sheyman, MC Galaxy Throw Jabs At Nigerian Music Stakeholders

Top Nigerian artistes, Sheyman and MC Galaxy, have thrown subtle jabs at stakeholders in the Nigerian music industry in a series of Instagram posts.
It all began after Afro-pop star, MC Galaxy, who is still basking in the euphoria of his hit track, Sekem, being listed as one of the soundtracks in a new Disney movie titled Queen of Katwe, posted a cryptic message on Instagram.
The comedian-turned-musician who shot into limelight in 2012 after winning Davido’s 20th birthday dance competition, wrote, “Who award help? They can’t stop you, Amen. God is good. Believe in Yourself, Blessings upon Blessings. AkwaIbomtoDisneykokobioko.
Corroborating MC Galaxy’s post, Sheyman, who is responsible for mixing Iyanya’s hit track Kukere, wrote, ”Thank you for this MC Galaxy. I will further say more to haters in the industry, ‘Iyalaya won’. Dagrin said it in one of my tracks “eshin pada bo wa be, meaning they still going to come back to beg.” They can’t stop you as long as you are focused. “Today it seems the media is a little biased. I know some artistes are afraid to come out and speak the truth about their pains. But here is the deal; will you abandon your passion for something else?
My question is when are we going to support the new ones without a platform. Do you want good music to die? So if artistes don’t have money, he should die with his talent?”
Speaking further he added, “I know some of the workers on these radio stations live on tips and all, but you can still be sensible enough not forget the reason why you are in that position. Promote good content! “If a song is good and has a good music video, must you make sure the artistes effort go to waste?”
The original soundtrack of the Disney movie, Queen of Katwe, is entitled Back of Life. Grammy-award winning singer, Alicia Keys, performed it. Released in 2014, Sekem shot MC Galaxy to super stardom. A remix, which was recorded by top American producer, Swizz Beatz, dropped in April 2016.
